Seven Peaks Double Date :)

First of all, I'm super self-conscious when it comes to parading around in a swimsuit and being surrounded by tan, "perfect-looking" individuals.  Even without all the other perfect people around, I'm still self-conscious just standing in a room by myself!  So any "public swimming" event or water park is not my comfort zone, to say the least.

However, a week ago my friend said she and her husband were going to Seven Peaks and I should join them.  I thought it would be a fun family outing (forgetting the expensive price of admission) and then it turned into me taking my nephew, Bryan (age 6) on a date.  A double date! :)  Once I found out a day pass was $25 (ridiculous!) I forked out the big bucks and bought myself the "Pass of All Passes"... which is $50 but it's unlimited use for Seven Peaks and Trafalga... not to mention Owls and Utah Flash games throughout the year.  I figure it's really the "pass of all 'nephew date' passes" because I will totally use it throughout the year.

So I officially called Bryan on Tuesday to invite him on our date, and he was super excited.  After I hung up the phone I thought, "Well dang, I wish it was really that easy with guys my age!"  But I do love these nephew dates, and this was the first time I'd take just Bryan, without his brother Matty, age 4.  :)

When Saturday finally rolled around, I was actually really excited to go to Seven Peaks:  when it's insanely hot there comes a point where I don't care what I look like in a swimsuit and just want to be in the water and stay cool.  By 10:30am-- YES-- it was burning hot outside and I was ready for a fun day!  I told Bryan we were meeting up with my married friends and he said, "I'm so excited to meet your friends-- when are YOU getting married??"  I told him I have no idea, but that's why I took him on the date so I could still practice going on dates in the mean time. :)

Some of the water slides had a requirement of 48 inches or taller, and Bryan is just a few inches shorter than that-- BUMMER-- so we didn't get to go on ALL the slides.  I'm okay with that because some of those slides are super steep and I'm okay not shooting out of a tube at that height, at such high speeds. :)  But we still had plenty of things to do to keep us busy, with or without our rented inner-tube, and the whole day was fabulous.  We did find my friend Bekah and her husband, Parker, and spent some time with them before they left a few hours later.  All in all... Seven Peaks was the best nephew date yet, and Bryan told me it was the BEST DAY EVER.   Enjoy the pics of our adventure!

This was Bekah & Parker's pose... cute little lovebirds all day!

Bryan and I tried to re-create the pose.  Just not the same without a double tube! ;)

One of the best parts of the day was our lunch break!
Hot dogs, fries, churros... okay, I'll stop there.

Bryan was a trooper and loved everything!  His favorite was the enclosed "cave" dark water slide. :)

And p.s.  I'm totally sunburned but it was worth it!

  2. I LOVE taking my nephews out on dates! They are 9 and 4. I show them how to open the doors for girls and everything. My 3y/o niece however gets a little jealous, so I've taken her out too. haha. I love being an aunt, and I'm sure the kids love us being their aunts too!
